Pedestrian Safety
Government >>> Departments & Divisions >>> Police Department >>> Pedestrian Safety
Pedestrian safety and community walkability is a primary goal of the City of Lowell.

Designated student walking routes have been established to provide safe walking routes to and from schools.

Designated roadway crosswalks exist throughout the city and are clearly marked on the roadways.  Some crosswalks at large and busy intersections are controlled by crossing lights.  Care should be taken when crossing any street.  Special caution should be taken in the downtown area where a large number of stationary and moving vehicles as well as pedestrians are present during various times of the day.
